What Stockist needsYou don't have to do any of it
- Every store needs a name and an address. One address style per file: one Full Address column or the split columns, never both.
- There is no ID column. A plain re-import adds every store again, unless you tick "This import contains a complete list of all stores".
- Stockist's own headings, saved as UTF-8, or the importer warns about the format.
You don't have to do any of this. Drop your file and we do all three.

Stockist has two import templates: one with a single Full Address column, one with the address split into parts. Drop in your own spreadsheet above. We pick the template that fits your data, map your columns and tidy the rows.
The exact headers
Both official templates are comma-separated with no byte order mark. Use one address style per file, never both.

What Stockist needs
- A store name and a street address on every row. Everything else is optional.
- Either one Full Address column or the split columns from Address Line 1 to Country. Not both in one file.
- Latitude and Longitude are optional. Rows with blank or invalid coordinates are found from their address.
- Custom fields such as Hours must be created first under Settings > Custom fields. Then add a column named after the field.
- Filters must already exist under Settings > Search filters. Use one column per filter with Yes, Y, True, T or 1, or one Filters column with exact filter names separated by commas or semicolons. Not both layouts in one file.
- We export the template columns only. Add custom field and filter columns after you download.
How updates and duplicates work
Stockist has no ID column. A normal import adds every row next to your existing locations, so importing an edited list gives you two of everything.
To update, download your locations with Bulk export, edit them, and import again with Bulk import. At the publish step, tick "This import contains a complete list of all stores". Stockist then replaces your whole list with the file, so any location missing from it is removed.
A linked Google Sheet adds rows too. Delete your existing listings before the first sync. The sync links columns by heading name, so renaming or deleting a connected column breaks it.
Because the complete list box replaces everything, make sure the file you import is your whole list. The import steps after download remind you which box to tick.
Encoding
Stockist needs a .csv saved as UTF-8. Anything else makes the importer show a file format warning, and accents turn into junk, like München for München. Our download is always UTF-8.
What fails and why
- Accents come out like München: the file was not saved as UTF-8.
- Every location appears twice: the list was imported again without ticking the complete list box.
- Rows that are section headings in your sheet are imported as stores. Delete them first.
- Online-only stores are in the list. Stockist advises leaving them out.
- A filter value is ignored: the filter does not exist yet, or the value is not one Stockist recognises.
Questions
How do I bulk edit locations in Stockist?
Download your locations with Bulk export, edit the file, then import it with Bulk import. Tick "This import contains a complete list of all stores" at the publish step so Stockist replaces your list instead of adding to it.
Why does the Stockist importer show a file format warning?
The file is not a UTF-8 CSV. Save it again as UTF-8, or drop it in the tool above, which always writes UTF-8.
Why did linking a Google Sheet duplicate my stores?
The sync adds rows next to the listings you already have. Delete the existing listings before the first sync.
