Convert an Excel sheet to a store locator CSV
Store locators want a CSV in a fixed shape, and Excel's own CSV export often breaks it. Drop your .xlsx or .xls in the tool above, pick the platform, and download a file in the exact format it wants.

What each platform accepts
| Platform | File | Delimiter | Headers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stockist | .csv, UTF-8 | Comma | Template names, matched in the importer |
| WP Store Locator | CSV, UTF-8 | Comma | 20 lowercase columns, wpsl_id to category |
| Agile Store Locator | CSV | Comma | Lowercase, in row 1, no extra spaces |
| Storepoint | .csv, .xlsx or .xls (first worksheet) | Not documented | Any, matched in the importer |
| Google Business Profile | .xls, .xlsx, .ods or .csv | Not documented | Your own account's template |
Where Excel goes wrong
- Semicolons: with some regional settings, Excel saves "CSV" with semicolons. An importer that expects commas then reads one long column.
- Encoding: Excel's plain CSV option is not UTF-8, so accents break.
- Leading zeros: postcodes or store codes stored as numbers lose their zeros. In Google Business Profile, 0004 becoming 4 creates a new location.
- Extra sheets: a CSV holds one sheet. Storepoint reads the first worksheet. The tool lets you pick the sheet.
- Section heading rows: Stockist imports them as stores.
How the tool reads Excel
We read every cell as the text Excel shows, so a postcode formatted as 0161 stays 0161. Long numbers that Excel would show in scientific notation, like a phone number typed without a +, are written out in full.
The download is a comma-separated UTF-8 CSV with the headers, order and line endings your platform's template uses.
Convert in four steps
- Drop your .xlsx or .xls in the tool above. CSV and TSV work too.
- Pick the platform you are importing into.
- Check the column matches and the fixes.
- Download the CSV, then import it using the steps shown for your platform.

Questions
How do I save Excel as a UTF-8 CSV?
Use Save As and pick CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited). Or drop the Excel file in the tool and download a UTF-8 CSV from there.
Why does my CSV have semicolons instead of commas?
Excel uses your computer's regional list separator, which is a semicolon in many countries. The tool reads either and always writes commas.
